The AACM welcomes you to our first concert in our 2025 season! We are excited to welcome two incredible musicians and long-time AACM students to our stage.
Beginning the evening will be Tim White on sitar, who began studying with Maestro Ali Akbar Khan in 1975, and is currently one of the AACM's instrumental instructors. Following Tim will be Mallar Bhattacharya on sarod, who is a disciple of Ustad Aashish Khan and has studied at the AACM for over 35 years. Both artists will be joined with tabla accompaniment by Sudhakar Vaidyanathan, a beloved student of our Director of Percussion, Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri.

Tim White - Sitar
Tim White began learning from Ali Akbar Khan in 1975 and is currently an instructor at the Ali Akbar College of Music, where he received the Vadya Alankar degree in 1978. Along with decades of training from Ali Akbar Khan, Tim was also able to learn from the many guest teachers Khansahib brought to the college, including: Pandit Swapan Choudhury (tabla), Pandit Jasraj (vocal), Ustad Vilayat Khan (sitar), Ustad Zakir Hussain (tabla), Pandit Gnan Prakash Ghosh (tabla, vocal), Pandit Rajeev Taranath (sarod), Sri Partha Chatterjee (sitar), Sri Krishna Bhatt (sitar) and G. S. Sachdev (bansuri).
Mallar Bhattacharya - Sarod
Mallar Bhattacharya is a sarodist of the Acharya Baba Allauddin Seni Gharana of Maihar, India. Mallar began his musical training at the age of three, learning both Western and Hindustani violin from his father, Dr. Jahar Bhattacharya, a student of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Mallar became a disciple of Ustad Aashish Khan at age 15 and has also studied music at the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, California for over 35 years, having learned directly from Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and his archival material over that time.
Sudhakar Vaidyanathan - Tabla
Sudhakar Vaidyanathan began his training in tabla under Shri Satish Tare at the age of eight. He now continues to study tabla under the guidance of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri.
