Manik Khan - Sarod
Nilan Chaudhuri - Tabla

Sunday, October 11th at 10:30 AM
The AACM | 215 West End Ave, San Rafael, CA 94901

The Ali Akbar College of Music presents a rare morning performance!
The concert will be followed by tea and snacks.

This concert will feature a sarod solo by Manik Khan, an AACM instructor and the youngest son of Maestro Ali Akbar Khan. Manik began his formal training on the sarod with his father at the age of 13. He spent his formative years accompanying his father on stage, touring for the last decade of his father's extensive and iconic performance career. Manik's own solo career has brought him throughout India, South America, and the U.S.

Manik has had the honor and privilege of performing alongside some of India’s greatest tabla masters, including Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, Pandit Tanmoy Bose, Pandit Yogesh Samsi, and Pandit Bickram Ghosh.

Accompanying Manik Khan on tabla will be Nilan Chaudhuri, son of AACM's unparalleled Director of Percussion, Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. Nilan Chaudhuri is a Bay Area based percussionist, educator, and performer. Initiated into the tradition of Indian Classical Music at the age of five by his father, Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, Nilan has been performing as a tabla soloist and accompanist for nearly two decades. Prior to beginning his formal training with his father in 2000, Nilan studied tabla with Brad Van Cleve, Tim Witter, and Uttam Chakraborty, all of whom are senior disciples of his father.
